Thinner ice English grammar

Features: Preface: This book is a practical English grammar. To facilitate its use by Chinese students, it adopts the traditional grammar system while also incorporating many new achievements of modern grammar. We have previously written "A Handbook of English Grammar" for beginners and "Advanced English Grammar" for English majors in universities and colleges. However, our English grammar series was still lacking a book suitable for high school, university and college non-English major students, as well as self-access learners who need further study. This book fills this gap. The major feature of this English grammar, aside from its completeness and systematic organization, lies in its "newness." First, it contains many new contents; among the most prominent are "Negation Structures." Second, there are some new arrangements, such as including the use of "IT" in the chapter on "Pronouns" and the transformation of "Sentence Patterns" in the chapter on "Types of Sentences." Third, the examples are rich and relatively fresh, mostly authentic contemporary English. However, please note that the translations of the examples in this book are only for understanding. Learning grammar is beneficial to read through, but to become familiar with or proficient in it, one must constantly consult it during the learning process, just like frequently consulting an English dictionary. This book has a relatively detailed table of contents, which is also used for reference. Finally, we sincerely thank Comrade Jiao Xiangying, President of Kaixin Publishing House, for his strong assistance. Thanks to his efforts, this book has been made available to a wide readership. There may still be many shortcomings and errors in this book, and we welcome criticism and corrections from experts and readers.
