Features: The essence of TCM diagnosis and treatment lies in pattern differentiation. Accurate pattern differentiation is crucial for appropriate treatment, making it the key. From a young age, I inherited my family's medical tradition. My father was an elderly scholar-physician who had me memorize The Three-Character Classic of Medicine during my childhood. Although the book is easy to read and remember, its definitions of syndromes are vague, leading to a sense of confusion when applying them for pattern differentiation. After graduating from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences and working in the affiliated hospital for 7 years, I furthered my studies in the "Western Learning in TCM" program, gaining a deeper understanding of syndrome concepts, which brought great confidence to my clinical practice. Subsequently, over 40 years of clinical practice integrating TCM and Western medicine, I reviewed numerous medical texts from different dynasties and found inconsistencies in the naming and connotations of syndromes, which hindered the learning and improvement of future practitioners. During my two years of studying in the United States, I often attended "National TCM Symposiums" in my spare time and deeply felt that the lack of uniformity severely impacted international academic exchanges. The sections on internal medicine syndromes in this book, including [Standard Names], [Alternative Names], [Syndrome Concept], [Clinical Manifestations], and [Diagnostic Requirements], are strictly transcribed according to the Standards for TCM Syndromes promulgated by the National Health Ministry, ensuring authority. Meanwhile, sections such as [Differential Diagnosis], [Analysis of the Syndrome], [Treatment Principles and Formulas], and [Experience and Insights] are deeply elaborated and applied based on the essence of ancient and modern TCM classics, combined with the author's extensive clinical experience and insights.
