Patient's question:
My daughter is two and a half years old. She has had chronic rhinitis for over a year. She always has a clear runny nose regardless of the season, but she doesn't cough, sneeze, or have a stuffy nose. She sweats profusely every night, has sparse, yellow hair, and an uneven skull cap. She is thin and weighs about 30 pounds. Tests revealed that she is deficient in calcium and zinc. She has been taking zinc-calcium oral solution for nearly two months, but there is no noticeable improvement. Please advise:(1) The child has taken Xinqin Granules but the effect was poor. Is there any better medicine?
(2) Is the child underdeveloped? What should be done?
(3) The child was not well-nourished in early life and did not develop properly. What measures can be taken to make up for this now?
Doctor's answer:
Symptoms of children with developmental disorders are characterized by motor dysfunction, which refers to the lower motor abilities of children with developmental disorders compared to their peers of the same age, and poor self-control in movement. Additionally, intellectual disability and perceptual disorders are also symptoms of children with developmental disorders. Among all children with developmental disorders, approximately 1/4 have normal intelligence, about 1/2 have mild to moderate intellectual deficits, and about 1/4 have severe intellectual deficits. Perceptual disorders refer to the condition where most patients are either hypersensitive or unresponsive to stimuli. Therefore, it is very important to understand the symptoms of children with developmental disorders.
