This book preserves the fundamental style of the series textbooks, based on the fifth edition, and emphasizes the "Three Basics" (basic theories, basic knowledge, and basic skills) and the "Five Qualities" (ideological, scientific, advanced, inspirational, and practical), while highlighting the functional aspect of the textbook. That is, the textbook serves as an important tool for cultivating students' clinical logical thinking, rather than a clinical diagnosis and treatment guide, which is the major difference between a textbook and a reference book. To help students better understand, some chapters have enhanced their introductory content and strengthened the clarity of concepts (e.g., the focus on immunodeficiency diseases is placed in the introductory section), enabling students to think actively and apply knowledge in various contexts. Illustrations and tables have been added to facilitate students' overall grasp of basic knowledge. The scope of the textbook outline has been appropriately expanded, particularly in areas of new developments and technologies (such as the sequential segmental diagnostic method for congenital heart disease, neonatal high-frequency mechanical ventilation, and the immunological pathogenesis of Guillain-Barré syndrome), but the content remains relatively accessible, helping students understand the essence of things at a macro level. This edition also introduces two new chapters: "Special Health Problems in Adolescence" and "Pediatric Emergency," which complete the overall concept of pediatrics and represent an alignment with international pediatric standards. Descriptions of some less common diseases in differential diagnosis have been included, broadening students' perspectives.
