Coughing for half a month with no effect from treatment, what should I do?

Patient's question:

Previously, I had a slight fever, and when I had a high fever of 37.2°C, I took medicine and it went away. Then I started coughing, and it hasn't improved until now. I've had intravenous drips and taken medicine, but it's not working. In the morning, when I come down, I have mild coughing, and after coughing for a while, I produce phlegm. The doctor said it's due to yin deficiency in the lungs, meaning lung fire is strong, but it hasn't improved yet.
Previous Treatment and Effects:
I've taken Snakebile and Fritillaria Fluid, Ma Xing Qing Fei (Guaicol), and antibiotics, among others. I've also had intravenous drips of penicillin. I'm not sure about anything else.
Desired Help:
I'm looking for expert help to see how to treat this.

Doctor's answer:

The cough you mentioned may be caused by inflammation in Western medicine, and the changes in small airways are manifestations of inflammation. Therefore, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory treatment is very necessary. Traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese herbal medicine also have good efficacy in treating this condition. TCM believes it is related to lung yin deficiency and often uses many nourishing yin and moistening lung herbs for regulation. Options include: Yangyin Qingfei Pills, Steam Pears with Fritillaria, and Baihe Gujin Decoction.
