Features: The concept of mobile agents was proposed by GeneralMagic in the early 1990s when launching its commercial system Telescript. Due to its excellent characteristics, mobile agent technology has become a key technology for next-generation distributed computing after CORBA and EJB, and has been widely applied in many emerging fields. This book is one of the earlier works in China that elaborates on mobile agent technology and its applications. Combining years of research and teaching experience, the author briefly and concisely explains the fundamental theories and methods of mobile agent technology from the perspective of distributed computing. According to the characteristics of engineering colleges, the book focuses on introducing the mobile agent platform Aglet, as well as collaborative e-commerce systems and real-time securities regulatory systems based on this platform. It also covers mobile agent interoperability programming, mobile agent platforms on handheld devices, and discusses open mobile computing technology. The accompanying CD-ROM contains the mobile agent platform Aglet, the Grasshopper FIPA extension package, the jKQML development package for KQML, and program examples from the book. The content of this book is comprehensive and clearly presented, making it suitable as a textbook for graduate and senior undergraduate students, as well as a reference for engineering professionals for self-study.
