Features: MATLAB is an interpreted language, and its execution speed is relatively slow. However, starting from MATLAB 6.5, it has been significantly optimized, and the improved execution speed is comparable to that of vectorized code. Although in some cases, techniques such as loop vectorization or pre-allocating array memory space are still needed to speed up execution, we can still see MATLAB's efforts. MATLAB provides multiple methods to accelerate execution. Using the Profiler tool or the profile function, you can obtain the execution details of each line of code, including execution time and call count, thereby identifying which statements consume the most time and focusing efforts on improvement. As a professional scientific computing software, MATLAB's primary function lies in its application—using existing functions and toolboxes (Toolbox) to solve specific problems. During usage, users may encounter issues and gradually develop higher requirements. For example, they may want to develop their own algorithms, create faster applications, or develop more visually appealing interfaces using VC, VB, etc. Therefore, "using to improve and then developing" is a natural pursuit and the path most MATLAB learners take. This book systematically introduces the methods and techniques for interfacing MATLAB with external programs. The book is divided into 13 chapters. Chapters 1 to 3 cover the interface between MATLAB and DOS programs, including methods for data input and output, the MATLAB Compiler, and the interface between MATLAB and FORTRAN, C. Chapters 4 to 9 discuss the interface between MATLAB and Windows programs, including the interface with Visual Basic, Visual C++, Excel, and SPSS, as well as the newly introduced COM Generator and Excel Generator. Chapter 10 introduces the interface between MATLAB and hardware. Chapters 11 to 13 cover runtime servers, report generators, and various methods to improve code execution efficiency. The book provides numerous examples to facilitate readers' understanding and application.
