Patient's question:
BornDoctor's answer:
Asymptomatic individuals do not require treatment. If there is infection and pus formation, anti-infective treatment such as antibiotics should be administered, or the abscess may be incised and drained, with local dressing changes. Once the infection is controlled and the local area has healed, the fistulectomy can be performed. Before the surgery, a small amount of methylene blue is injected into the fistula, and a probe is inserted into the lumen as a guide. The fistula or its branches are then completely excised. If residual fistula tissue remains and infection recurs, subsequent surgery becomes very difficult.
