Can a baby take a shower in the emergency room?

Patient's question:

The child has been crying non-stop recently and isn't eating much. Can infants get a bath at the emergency room?

Doctor's answer:

Roseola is a viral infection that typically causes fever for 2-5 days. After the fever subsides, red rashes appear all over the body in the following order: face, neck, torso, and limbs. The rashes usually appear within 24 hours, and by the time the rash appears, the illness is almost over. The rash generally disappears on its own within about 2 days.
If your child fits the pattern of fever followed by rash, it is likely roseola. However, it’s important to get plenty of rest, ensure proper nutrition, drink plenty of fluids, and keep the skin clean to avoid catching a cold. Avoid crowded places.
After recovering from this illness, it is usually not contracted again. Diarrhea may be related to medication and will gradually improve once the medication is stopped. If it doesn’t fit the roseola pattern, that’s not a major issue. It can also be determined as a viral rash, which will improve within a few days without needing to worry.
