Myths and legends are a nation's and a country's invaluable spiritual wealth and hold a significant position in the history of literature. Their themes, contents, and various mythological figures have had a multifaceted influence on literary creation throughout history and the formation of epic poems across different ethnic groups. Particularly, their rich, boundless, and fantastical imagination, as well as their methods of personifying natural phenomena, have a direct lineage relationship with the artistic fiction and romantic creative methods of later writers. They have provided abundant material for later generations' creative works. Moreover, myths possess rich aesthetic and historical value and are closely related to ancient life and history, serving as important documentary resources for studying early human societies' marriage and family systems, primitive religions, customs, and more. This book also selects and compiles several folk legends and folk tales from around the world, such as "The Legend of Meng Jiangnu," "The Butterfly Spring," "Alishan," and "The Tale of Momotaro."
