Features: In today's academic circles, numerous scholars have emerged, and "the Dao has been fragmented." My friend Li Zehou often remarks that among today's young scholars, many claim to be the "unrivaled masters of the world," even boasting of being "invincible in all battles." Another friend once told me that some of these talented individuals are searching through my life's works, aiming to find flaws to launch a critique. Upon hearing this, I found it rather amusing. The mutual disdain among scholars has long been a tradition, and it seems even more intense today. I know that fame brings both glory and danger, as the saying goes, "people fear fame, and pigs fear growth." In today's Chinese academic circles—across multiple fields—due to my solitary path, my heretical new theories, and my challenge and disdain for both traditional theories and fashionable trends, I have long become a figure of envy for some.
As a humanities scholar in today's world, what we seek is not the ancient Dao but the method to lead China into modern culture. This Dao is everywhere and nowhere. Precisely because of this, I firmly believe that truth will not be handed to any lucky individual on a silver platter. "It is not people who possess truth, but truth that possesses people." Moreover, "the pursuit of truth is more valuable than its possession!"
